Dates blank in FormBuilder_QuickForm

So far just about everything I need to do, is working better than I'd expect (and I am changing the app logic to work around the nested forms issue ;-). One thing that's driving me nuts is that dates are not showing up in the forms. I have correctly (I think) set $fb_dateFields() in the DB_Object, and I have dateElementFormat = d-m-Y set in my .ini file under [DB_DataObject_FormBuilder]. Any ideas how I can troubleshoot this?
