Hi. Two weeks ago Tom Harrison posted the message at the bottom of this e-mail. Sorry, I would have replied on that thread, but I don't know how to do it. I am having the exact same problem. Except my script had been working fine for 6 months when all of the sudden it just started giving me this message: "Fatal error: Failed opening required 'DB.php' (include_path='') in /home/hobo/public_html/interactivelogic/interactivepage.php on line 46" I did not change this script. One day it worked, the next day it didn't. Worse: It started doing it on a second site that is not hosted by the same hosting company. Again, I had not changed the script. It worked fine then it stopped working. I changed one of the websites to a new hosting company because the former one wouldn't respond to e-mails. The script worked fine on the new hosting company for a week. Then it started giving the same message. Again, I changed nothing in the script. Are all these hosting companies upgrading to a new version of PHP or MySQL that is breaking DB.php? This is the same script suddenly not working on three different hosting companies... problem started at slightly different times. The current site I am having the problem on is using PHP 4.1.2. I do not know yet if they have just upgraded or if they had it at a time when my script worked fine. Current MySQL version is 3.23.45. Same scenario... I am waiting to hear back. If anyone has any thoughts it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Brett Tom Harrison wrote: I have been searching for days and have been unable to come up with an answer for this strange problem. I'm trying to use the PEAR DB library with a site I'm developing. To include the library in the scripts, I'm using: require_once 'DB.php'; About 20% of the time, my scripts will execute properly. The other 80% of the time, I get this error: Fatal error: Failed opening required 'DB.php' (include_path='') in /home/dpmusic/public_html/admin/dbconn.php on line 2 My scripts do not contain anything that modifies the include_path, and I'm using a pretty reliable host (he.net). My phpinfo() output reports that my include path has been configured to .:/usr/local/lib/php. This is php 4.1.2. I emailed them about the problem but have yet to recieve a reply. I tried simulating the problem with a dummy script which does not exist anywhere on the server. The following code: require_once 'Foobar.php'; Returned the following error: Fatal error: Failed opening required 'Foobar.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php)... Notice that in this error, the include path shows up, but it doesn't when I try to use PEAR. Any thoughts on a possible solution to this would be greatly appreciated. Tom
