no log class in install

Why does my test.php show this:
PEAR
PEAR - Yes
Recent PEAR - Yes
Mail::RFC822 - Yes
Log - No
Make sure you're using a recent version of PEAR which includes the Log
class.
DB - Yes
I have php 4.1.0 which should have the lastest pear combined with it.
I aslo downloaded pear 4.1.0 tar xvf & put it into lib/php..that didn't
work.
I get this error in my application:
Warning: Failed opening 'Log.php' for inclusion
(include_path='.:/usr/local/php')
How can this be solved can someone point me in the right direction..
