Hi,
Since I am sure not all users of LiveUser are frequently reading our wiki (or separate mailinglist for that matter) I would like to bring to attention that we are close to another release. This will not however be just another release. This release marks a totally refactored internal structure. See the latest news over on http://pear.limbourg.com.
The bad news is that this means that you will have to change your config parameters. The good news is that its actually not all that much to change.
The good news are though that we have added support for an insane amount of new features, have made the code much much easier to maintain. Among other things we have added:
- observers to handle stuff like login forms etc in the most flexible way
- security checks before admitting a user the access rights to a given session ID
- made the entire perm database schema configurable
- separated the admin API into its own package and totally reworked the perm API to generate the SQL on the fly just as you need it!
For details look here:

http://pear.limbourg.com/27.html
Please note that the client has working examples of all the new features. Especially example 1, 2 and 4 will be of interest. The admin API is show cased in the example 1 in that package.
We have also documented the observer stuff (since we expect this to be the major stumbling block in next version for people):

One more warning:
LiveUser now expects you to pass the handle, password, logout and remember me parameters directly. Removing the ability to read from the superglobals safed alot of bug prone code. If there is popular demand for it we will consider adding some kind of factory method for this to emulate the old behaviour however the easiest is just the following:
insetad of
$LU =& LiveUser::factory($liveuserConfig);
$LU->init();
do now:
$LU =& LiveUser::factory($liveuserConfig);
$handle = isset($_REQUEST['handle']) ? $_REQUEST['handle'] : null;
$password = isset($_REQUEST['password']) ? $_REQUEST['password'] : null;
$logout = isset($_REQUEST['logout']) ? $_REQUEST['logout'] : null;
$LU->init($handle, $password, $logout);
regards,
Lukas
