Hi Daniel & DB-fans,
How can I transfer my raw Postgresql scripts to DB
preserving lock within update transactions.
(should be same for Oracle)
The sheme used is quite common, simplified:
1) Client give some keys for a row to update.
2) Server gives back the according values if any.
3) Client changes the value, and after a while send that back.
*We have many clients to the same row*
4) Server open transaction
5) Reads again data for the keys with lock
6) Checks read data is equal to original sent data
7) If OK, makes update else abort with message
"data was changed in the mean time, sorry, do it again"
8) If OK, commit.
I cannot grep something like that in the scripts from DB.
Is it to be done manually ?
Anyway, glad to be "somebody", it's more cosy as "nobody".
Best
