There´s another possibility: On Windows systems (and only there!) you can also use the new DB_ADO driver for PEAR::DB. It uses PHP´s COM interface and accesses data sources via Microsoft´s ADODB libraries, the standard database connection interface for Windows applications. It´s MUCH better than the ODBC driver, the only drawback is that it´s Windows only.
