Hi Arne, this is not possible out of the box. You need to predefine this element using the fb_preDefElements array, like this (in your DataObject): function preGenerateForm(&$fb) {

    $hierselect = HTML_QuickForm::createElement('hierselect',...);
    $this->fb_preDefElements['nameOfMyField'] = $hierselect;
