Installing Pear

I have installed Pear using go-pear.bat which came with php-4.3.10-Win32. I installed php-4.3.10-Win32 in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\, accepted the defaults in "go-pear.bat" and modified php.ini with include_path = ".;C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\php-4.3.10-Win32\pear". When I move basic.php into C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs and access it with a browser I get: Warning: fsockopen(): php_network_getaddresses: gethostbyname failed in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\php-4.3.10-Win32\pear\Net\Socket.php on line 108 Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to mail.example.com:25 in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\php-4.3.10-Win32\pear\Net\Socket.php on line 108 Failed to connect socket: The operation completed successfully.
