Hi Steve Clay, you wrote:
Hello, PEAR newbie here, with some simple questions. My shared host has PEAR, but I have no access to the "pear" PHP utility. For my first project I needed a beta module so I just created a private directory "pear_extras", added the path to my includes path (before the path to my host's pear install) and placed the module files there. This worked like a charm, but will it in general? Any other caveats? So long php require_once (and al.) follows the include path :)
I gather that, if a module requires more recent versions of dependencies then I'll have to also place these in my pear_extras directory... You can even (if '.' (current folder) is in include path) have for a given script a special require for a local version which is not the one you have regular. Just have a link or subfolder named the same. Then if '.' is before in the include path, you get it first.
e.g. put a bloody Auth.php in the same folder as your script. See what you get. So, no problem for your pear_extras folder so far you manage it. à+ -- bertrand Gugger (toggg)
