Auth_HTTP - blank

Hi, I am trying to get the values from the login query. An example can be seen here: http://pear.php.net/manual/en/package.authentication.auth-http.auth-http.example2.php The session variable '_authsession' is being set in the auth.php class and all the db fields are filled in correctly. However, the values just can't be read out by using the getAuthData('field'); function. As below, I can set the variable test to the value and when i print the getAuthData array the test variable is filled correctly and I can retrieve it. $blah = $a->setAuthData('test','1234'); print_r($a->getAuthData()); But, with the example link above on the pear site, i cant see how the getAuthData function returns the value as when i try and print the array 'print_r($a->getAuthData());' its blank.
