db_dataobject->free() method

Hello,
i'm using db_dataobject's free() method to free the globals when doing a
lot of find calls.
I have a problem with this.
When calling
$dao->free()
and then in another db_dataobject dao->insert()
i got an error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: quote() in e:\localhost\shared\pear\DB\DataObject.php on
line 938
(i'm assigning values to dataobject)
a noticed that db_dataobject tries to use cached connection, but it is
not a real connection to db (cleaned?? with free() method??)
is this expected behaviour?
