pear command line client & http proxy authentication

Hello,
I enjoy using PEAR archive and its applications but I have one major
issue: I don't know how to set proxy authentication when using pear
command line package manager.
I can set http_proxy but still don't know how or where set username
and password.
My server is located behind http proxy that requires authentication.
Package manager so remains unusable for me, I have to download
packages and solve all dependencies manually which is annoying.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
