How about putting a new function into the MySQL Driver for PEAR DB, some thing like getLastInsertedId().# Get the next ID in the sequence named "customers_seq": $nextId = $db->nextId("customers"); $db->query("INSERT INTO customers ( id, name ) VALUES ( $nextId, ".$db->quote($_POST["name"])." )"); echo "The customer named $_POST[name] has ID no. $nextId.";
