Hi, I have a few simple questions about the new channel capability in the PEAR installer. Do packages on a channel get installed into /usr/lib/php (or whatever the generic name is for this directory) by default?yes
If so, is there a mechanism for resolving naming conflicts?yes, first come, first serve (existing files are not overwritten). To test, take any PEAR package, run pear convert, change the channel in the package2.xml to some other channel. Then, install the PEAR package via package.xml, and attempt to install the new package2.xml (the channel must be discovered first).
I am I correct in assuming that installing into another directory requires a custom file role?no. $ pear config-set default_channel whatever.example.com $ pear config-set php_dir /usr/lib/php/whatever Greg
