Apache error log listed the following line... [Wed Apr 27 14:01:19 2005] [notice] Parent: child process exited with status 128 -- Restarting. Not very helpful but an FYI. Looks like PHP crashed.

Well, once you get some sample code we can take a look and also you can make a PHP bug report...that is, if you have a newer version. What version of PHP are you using? Some older versions had some...interesting problems when working heavily with OO. I had problems with class name lengths with PEAR::SOAP for example.

I'm starting to think it might be my setup. (Apache/2.0.52 (Win32) DAV/2 SVN/1.1.2 PHP/4.3.10). barebones, crashing on 218 chars, sample code available at... <http://www.silent-e.com/code/php/HTML_QuickForm_crashtest.phps> I appreciate the help. It has to be my system. Just uploaded my crashtest script to a linux test server I have available, and I can't crash it even with over 2000 chars in the element label. Hmmm.

I'll get some sample code worked up. First though, the reason I call it a fatal error is that Firefox is returning a "Document contains no data" error when I try to load the page. Thus, I'm thinking that Apache is not able to handle it or PHP is not able to handle it.

This is exactly why you should tell us what the error is. I was thinking you were getting a PHP fatal error. This is more serious. Sounds more like PHP is crashing, though. Check your apache logs for crashes.

I'm not sure if this is a bug. I searched the bugs for QF but didn't see anything related... I'm getting what I believe is a fatal error in QF when I addElement or createElement with an element label of greater than 131 chars, and when I addGroup with an element label greater than 129 chars. I haven't done any deeper diagnosis of this due to time restrictions. Anyone know anything about this? Worthy of a bug report?

Post some quick example code that makes it crash so that others can test it. What exactly is the fatal error you're seeing? You should always say what kind of error (PHP, PEAR, QF, etc.) and what the error says when reporting a bug.
