I was just throwing 10 out as a reason, but its its especially handy when you want the sequences to have a logical meaning. This is of course more important in real business apps then web apps (were your using a db that supports sequences and such), but i still like running logically different tables off the same sequence. -joshua eichorn Tomas V.V.Cox wrote:

Yes, as like as in a DB with native sequences you'll have 10 native sequences too. My point is: why would you like to use more than one sequence? Perhaps one for massive values an another for lower ones if you like to be somehow human friendly, but 10! Remember that UNSIGNED INT in MySQL is up to 4,294,967,295 , so you are not going to run out of values. Tomas V.V.Cox
