may be it works .. I have just started using quickform .. so not very sure .. but here is an idea
for the hack ...
Addrule as usual .. and when the form is sent back for correction .. check if that is the
"ONLY" error in the form .. if that is so .. freeze that element .. and don't add
that rule this time ...
possible ?
