DB_DataObject Portability Not Working

I thought I figured out how to solve my issue with DB_DataObject on an
Oracle 9 database by defining the portability settings, but I am still
getting hung up on the numrows issue.
I have added portability = 8 to my ini file, but I continue to get the
following error: DB backend not capable
Can anyone suggest what else I can do to allow DB_DataObject on an
Oracle Database?
