A standart format (and usually respected) is already something
wonderfull in this worlds.

Imagine you have hundred mail news subscribtions, each of them uses
another fancy layout and formats. You do not want want to read all
the news but headers and summaries, or using some custom filters.
It may be possible to do it but not in an easy way, rss allows
that, in an easy way, both to filter or display.
Another advantage of RSS, you do not have to send (bandwidth,
resources,...), people fetch it, when they want, if they want.
