Pear install script runs, but does not install pear.

Hi,
I'm running php 4.1.2 on Mandrake 8.2. I am trying to install the pear
package manager. After I run the go-pear script using lynx, nothing is
installed!
Output from one attempt is shown below. BTW - I have tried answering either
'Y' or 'N' to installation of the bundled pear packages and the same result
occurs.
I appreciate any suggestions.
