When attempting to use pear to install a package, I got the following
error:
$ pear install http://pear.php.net/get/imagick
downloading imagick-0.1.1.tgz ...
...done: 12,590 bytes
The extension 'zlib' couldn't be found.
Please make sure your version of PHP was builtwith 'zlib' support.
So I attempted to compile php with 'zlib' support (I compile a static
executable on my workstation and upload it to the web server, where
I have limited privileges). However, that hasn't changed the error.
When I check for 'zlib' support, it appears to be there:
$ head -n 1
which pear
#!/vs3/vs3/macroped/usr/local/bin/php -Cq
$ /vs3/vs3/macroped/usr/local/bin/php -m
Running PHP 4.2.1
Zend Engine v1.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2002 Zend Technologies
[PHP Modules]
zip
xml
standard
session
posix
pcre
mysql
ctype
[Zend Modules]
$
Any ideas what could be wrong? Your help is appreciated.
