Yes, use their transaction support :-)

You can do that with PEAR::DB and any supported DBMS that uses
transactions.

MySQL has transactions... I wonder why you want to wait until 4.1? Even
the 3.x versions have transaction support. You just need to change the
table type from ie. MyISAM to innoDB and there you are. Each table type
has its own advantages and disadvantages - MyISAM being very fast but
without support for transactions. As MyISAM is the default table type
used for CREATE TABLE statements if you don´t specify anything else,
it´s a common misunderstanding that MySQL has no transaction support.
What can I say? Read the docs... in the newest MySQL releases you even
have Foreign Key support (full referential integrity) when using innoDB
as the table type.
