What you say is right : the smarty renderer does not take column formatters into account. That's a bug, but anyway once the SDG refactoring is achieved (see bug #5859) it will be easier to add a such feature. Meanwhile, your Array renderer is a solution. Your experience is interesting. A such "Array" driver could be useful in other cases.
