[Dataobject] get method returns true

I'm using the last version from the pear repository over Windows Xp and
connecting to a MS Access DB over ODBC.
When I try this:
$rows = $inv_hand->get('vendor_serial',"$serial");
var_export($inv->N);
var_export($rows);
both contain true.
Is this something related with the ODBC driver?
