It was originally installed on the system when it was RHEL 4.1. PEAR was updated to meet a couple of web application (FogBugz - a bug tracker) requirements. The system has been subsequently updated to 4.2 and now "pear list" fails with the error: PHP Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: pear_command_registry-init in /usr/share/pear/PEAR/Command.php on line 271 The same error is returned when you try a "pear update". pear was working before FogBugz was installed, but I can't prove that it was still working after the PEAR update or after fog bugz installation. But it seems like the registry is /usr/share/pear/.registry is some how corrupted. Has anyone seen this problem before? If so, how did you fix it?First of all, this is due to criminally shoddy re-packaging of PEAR by Redhat. Not sure about what is "criminal" ...
Please report this bug to them, as you are probably the 30th user to report this problem. Now, to fix it, rm /usr/share/pear/PEAR/Command/*-init.php. Then, you'll want to upgrade PEAR - all versions prior to 1.4.2 have a security hole. Greg
