You should disable memory limit for the installar (cli php.ini)
the pecl command ignores php.ini, this is its sole purpose for existence. Use peardev install pecl/fileinfo if you're having memory limit issues.
Yeah that gets rid of the memory problem, thanks. But still I get ERROR: `phpize' failed only with pecl though.
