About installation path

Hi, I am going to start using pear on my new website (on a linux-based server), and was wondering where are the files realatedI found something named pear.conf in /etc directory of my account, and a directory in /usr/share/pear/. Is there a certain location for installing, or my hosting can install it on different locations? Thanks a lot for your time and help. Morteza
