HTTP_Request with SSL

Seems to me that HTTP_Request with SSL support works fine on my Linux boxes, but fails on my Windows NT laptop (under Zend studio). Given that I don't have anything like OpenSSL on Windows, what might I be able to do in order to make this work (for development only?)
