Size of Quickform Select Element Array

Hi I was wondering what the max size is of the options array in Quickform Select Element is. I am doing a search form and I want to use the result of a query to generate the select element. using the loadQuery function. Small numbers of returns from the query (approx 100 or so) seem to work, but one result is an array of 2100, this fails.
