The difference is that in the second case the DB directory is missing.
Have a look at DB_Table, the structure there is following the standard.

No, take a look at the example on the group page.
But SDG may be older than the standard, no problem, therefore. (I think it
must be older because we had the trouble with the docs directory some
months ago.)

Right. But that's true for all packages following the mentioned standard.
As it is written somewhere on pear.php.net, the CVS structure is not meant
for direct usage. That's especially true when people use package.xml
feature like Lukas described them.
