I successfully upgraded the driver.

Can you try replacing the body of the aforementioned method (in file /pear/MDB2/Driver/mysql[i].php) with these lines?

I placed those lines in the /pear/MDB2/Driver/mysql.php file but to no avail - I still get question marks. However, I then went and put an echo statement in for debugging purposes and I didn't see it in the output of my script. Should this have worked? Is it possible that I've got the wrong file, or that setCharset isn't even being called? Tim
