Hi,
It seems to me that they all support timeout options.
See the following links:
HTTP_Request
http://pear.php.net/package/HTTP_Request/docs/1.4.0/apidoc/HTTP_Request/HTTP_Request.html#methodHTTP_Request
Net_FTP
http://pear.php.net/package/Net_FTP/docs/1.3.2/FTP/Net_FTP.html#methodNet_FTP
Net_SMTP
http://pear.php.net/package/Net_SMTP/docs/1.2.8/Net_SMTP/Net_SMTP.html#methodconnect
Well, HTTP_Request and Net_SMTP use Net_Socket, but Net_FTP use
ftp extension to handle timeout option.
Cheers
Shin

I'm using the above Pear packages to carry out some connection checks on our servers. I'd like to set a timeout for all of them, but can't quite work out how to for each one. I've looked through the documentation, and can see no reference to connection timeouts on any of them. Also, once they have timed-out, what errors would be sent back?
