if you are running php4.3 you can handle SSL connections using the new file wrappers. those do also work when u use the HTTP_Request class, i've tried it :-) if you open a socket using Net_Socket you can also communicate via 'ssl://yoururl' using SSL (this is what HTTP_Request does)
