Did you have a look at LiveUser? It might make your task a little easier,
as all the permission mechanisms are already there - and if it should
not meet your exact needs, you can still write your own permission
component. But in that case you´d still have the advantage of a standard
API, so if you want to switch to another permission scheme, you won´t
have to touch much of your application´s code.
To be honest, there currently three catches with LiveUser:
a) The only packaged version is stone-old, the current code can only be
retrieved via CVS (ATM.)
b) At the current stage of development, there´s still a possibility of
minor API changes
c) It´s not very well documented.
I don´t know when a) or c) will be addressed, but I´m working on fixing
catch b). And as long as c) is still an issue, you can ask me anything
you want and I´ll try to answer as quickly as possible.
Regards,
Markus
