Did you try:
$form->addRule('text1', 'is required.', 'required');
$form->addRule('text1', 'must be numeric.', 'numeric');
$form->addRule('text2', 'is required.', 'required');
$form->addRule('text2', 'must be numeric.', 'numeric');
