This is something I'd definitely want to see.
It would make distributing applications *really* simple.

Subject: [PEAR] Installing pear packages via API
Dear Mapear-generaliling List Members!
I have a question about pear: I use a lot of pear components in my web
projects but can't be sure that others have this pear components
installed (or even the pear base system like with php 4.3.x under
windows). Is there any way to install all the needed pear without
copying them to a seperate folder, but installing them when needed.
So to come to the point: Is there a PEAR API available which enables php
scripts to install needed pear packages (so the user doesnt need to use
the cli)? and if not is it planned? what do you think about the idea?
Best regards.
