change directory to your Windows PHP location
run the following command: cli\php -n -r "include 'http://go-pear.org';"
follow the prompts
at the suggested file layout for your new PEAR installation change the
following items:
1 - should be wherever your PHP is installed
2 - will default to #1
3 - should be wherever you want to install PEAR
4 - will default to create docs directory under directory in #3
5 - will default to create data directory under directory in #3
6 - will default to create tests directory under directory in #3
Continue to follow the prompts.
Update your php.ini and add the directory set in #3 above to the
include_path
Update the path locations in the pear.bat created in directory from #1
Test your install works with the following command: pear help
Do not try to install your PEAR directory (#3) directly under your PHP
directory (#1) if you are going to name the PEAR directory 'pear'. The
install creates a script file called 'pear' under the PHP directory and if
you have located your PEAR directory as 'pear' under the PHP directory the
install cannot create the pear script because of naming conflicts with the
directory of the same name.

Subject: [PEAR] Sharing pear installation between W2K & RH8 -> Install
PEAR from W2K
Hi PEAR'ers
I'd like to share my installation of PEAR between Windows 2000 and Red
Hat 8 for testing purposes - as far as my intuition goes that should be
possible since PEAR is "nothing but .php files" - am I correct here?
Assuming I am indeed correct another question arises:
My Windows installation of PHP is in c:\Program Files\PHP and I want to
install PEAR in z:\php\pear where z: is a partition being shared between
the two OS's.
Since PEAR is not included in the Windows distribution of PHP4.3.1 and I
haven't yet installed Red Hat 8 I need to install pear manually from
Windows. This is where my problems begin - And from the other msgs in
this group I can tell I'm not the only one!
How should I install PEAR to the Z-drive using Windows!!??
Even thought I've been using PEAR for ½-1 year I haven't yet succeded in
doing a simple complete installation of PEAR but still have to
individually download the packages and unpack them to the proper place -
very slow procedure indeed...
