Thanks for your answer John,
Since my last mail, I have made a few more tests. The unset($bigvar)
executes very quickly, but it doesn't free any memory. I've tried to debug
with the Zend Debugger. Everything executes fine, even PEAR destructors, but
the script still uses CPU and Memory after the last line of code.
I have also tested the small example I've send to the mailing list on my
Windows 2000 System (with EasyPhp 1.5 -> PHP 4.0.6, Apache 1.3.20, MySQL
3.23.40). With this configuration I don't have the same problem. So I don't
know if the problem comes from my Linux System (Mandrake 8.0 with PHP 4.06,
MySQL 3.23.41 and Apache 1.3.20) or from PHP ??????
