I would dearly love to see that machine upgraded, but I'm only the web
developer around here, not the network administrator. All our other
servers are running much recent versions of everything, up to and
including PHP 4.2.2 on RH9.0. The problem I am having is on a machine
that is stuck in a remote location with terrible bandwidth, so we've
decided to shift code to that machine rather than try to talk to it over
the net.
I'll try replacing DB.php ... sorry to bother you guys, but I am always
reluctant to interfere with production machines like this.
Thanks for your advice.
Mick

That's very likely, but you should really try that yourself on some
testing environment. BTW: Using PHP 4.0.4 is pretty much outdated, so
you should consider updating it.
