DB and sockets

I am trying to use DB with an installation of MySQL using sockets to
connect. but I am getting "DB Error: connect failed".
The dsn is like:
mysql://username:password@localhost:/tmp/mysql.sock//database_name
I have also tried:
mysql://username:password@localhost:/tmp/mysql.sock/database_name
and:
mysql://username:password@:/tmp/mysql.sock/database_name
I have searched the archives, but haven't found anything. The
documentation about connecting to MySQL with sockets is a little
lacking.
