You are indeed almost correct. I assume you meant 'print $info->show;' Although the print is superfluous, the $info->show() simply echoes out the result, no more.
I have no idea where Ben got the idea that PEAR_Info::show() is a static method. The sample in the package doesn't show that, and the PEAR Manual doesn't show that. Indeed it makes a note of saying its NOT a static method.
