Hi all.
I am currently working on a project where we are combining two running
systems. One of the system is using PostgreSQL db, the other is using
Informix. The PostgreSQL system is programmed in PHP, using PEAR. The
other (older) system has a 4GL interface.
Our initial plan was to port the PostgreSQL database to Informix making
use of the abstraction of the PEAR::DB layer. According to the
description of PEAR::DB it should support Informix.
Well, to cut the story short, we can't make it work. Text fields (blobs
in ifx) seem to give us the most problems. There seem to be
surprisingly few answers out there. We have also tried ADODB and
Metabase without luck. And that leads me to the question:
Has anyone of you out there used Informix + PHP with success?
And if so, did you use an abstraction layer, and which?
Can anyone share their wisdom?
Best regards.
