DB_DataObjects performance

Hi, DB & DataObjects users ! I'm using about one month DataObjects, and I love it. How ever, I have noticied that in my development PC: Win 98, MySQL 4, Apache 1.3.27, PHP 4.3.1, 128Mb RAM, Pent. III 750Mhz. Performance on scripts that uses DataObjects, has quite lower, in comparasion when I not used this class. Of course, I don't want to get back to horrible times when I used pure ugly SQL on my scripts or classes. Also, I use Smarty and others little PEAR classes. There is a way to improve performance on my scripts ? Is the problem DataObjects really ? Can I improve performance using DB instead Dataobjects ? (repeat: I prefer DataObjects!) I need to make some adjusts on Apache ? or MySQL ? or php.ini ? Regards, mac -- ...ThE PhP_KiD.
