QuickForm - how to set defaults in group?

I have a group of selects like this:
$article_select[] = &HTML_QuickForm::createElement('select','sel1', '',$article_options);
$article_select[] = &HTML_QuickForm::createElement('select','sel2', '',$article_options);
$article_select[] = &HTML_QuickForm::createElement('select','sel3', '',$article_options);
$article_select[] = &HTML_QuickForm::createElement('select','sel4', '',$article_options);
$article_select[] = &HTML_QuickForm::createElement('select','sel5', '',$article_options);
$article_select[] = &HTML_QuickForm::createElement('select','sel6', '',$article_options);
$article_select[] = &HTML_QuickForm::createElement('select','sel7', '',$article_options);
$article_select[] = &HTML_QuickForm::createElement('select','sel8', '',$article_options);
$article_select[] = &HTML_QuickForm::createElement('select','sel9', '',$article_options);
$article_select[] = &HTML_QuickForm::createElement('select','sel10', '',$article_options);
$ib_form->addGroup($article_select, 'ib_article', 'Source articles:', array('<br />'));
How would I set a default value for some of all of these?
