is PEAR appropriate to work with IBM DB2?

Hi!
Until now I'm using PEAR_DB to make my application work with postgreSQL and
MySQL. Nor I have to implement Support for IBMs DB2 (8). Does it work as
stable as direct ODBC-access with PEAR_DB? Or what should I use instead?
