Surely it does, but :
- I'm using PEAR far more for ease (and consistency) of developement than strict portability (my sites will not be elsewhere than on mysql in my case)
- this is a question that come from time to time to the list and as far as I know (perhaps I'm wrong) there is for instance no pure PEAR solution for that
