These days I was looking for a search engine solution for a 500k visitors/month site, and well, I just didn't found it. There's obviously MnoGoSearch, which is great, but the indexer is not suitable for the site, as we must register all the words one by one, and there's no indexing functions in the PHP extension :-( I had also a look at phpDig, ht//Dig, phpSearch but I found that no one was really a framework for the powerful search engine I want to make So anyone knows another framework ? If not, why not start such a project in PEAR repository ? There's no Search Class here yet ! It would also be useful for users who can't get mnogosearch installed for instance. Discussing this idea would be great, and I would be happy to be part of the dev team.
You may want to try this popular htdig interface class. It provides functions to generate htdig configuration files, hot indexing process and search engine interface. The example shows how to present search results split into pages with links to navigate between them.
