Could you explain the purpose? Pure HTML will not translate cleanly to BBCode, and you don't even need to translate HTML produced with BBCode back to HTML - you either parse it every time it is displayed or if you're trying to save on processing time, you store the original along with the HTML output in the record in the table... I'm thinking about a very simple kind of CMS where you put special HTML-comments around parts of existing HTML-pages, a script parses this page and creates textarea-fields with the content beteween the special comments - this content now ist editable by using BBCode. The idea behind is, that such pages remain still HTML, so no parsing has to be done while displaying, no DB is needed and you nearly have no work to make such a page editable (useful if you have a complete static website and a user now wants to edit it without having access or knowledge about websit-editing). I've done such a script already and it works good, but I'm not satisfactored with my BBCode-Parser, so the PEAR-BBCode-parser would be perfect ;-) Regards, Emanuel. -- ******************************************************************** Emanuel Züger mail@liqui.net ********************************************************************Hi, there is a great package for parsing BBcode, it works good, but one question remains: Is there any possibility to do the parsing in the other direction, means, to transform text with html-tags into text with the appropriate BBCODE-Tags? I think, this is qute essential, because there are many opportunities to work on ordinary html-text by using BBCode. Any ideas are appreciated!
