QF custom element creation

Hi, I was thinking of attempting to wrap up some small html/javascript things I'd written into Quickform elements. The single elements don't look too complex, I just wondered if anybody has written a HOWTO for creating a new element from scratch. What classes do what, and maybe a little on the Quickform event mechanism maybe? I could poke around in the dark but never have enough hours in the day at work to experiment any more :-( Hoep somebody can help. The recent guide which was posted had a section reserved for such a topic so maybe the info could be added to that as well?
