SSL and NET_Socket problem

I'm getting the following error Warning: fread(): SSL: fatal protocol error in /pear/share/Net/Socket.php on line 243 I'm trying to use the Request class to send a request to a remote host over SSL. My implementation of that is: $request = new HTTP_Request( 'https://www.servebase.co.uk/hosted/hosted.asp' ); $request->setMethod( HTTP_REQUEST_METHOD_GET ); $request->clearPostData(); [snip] $request->sendRequest(); And I've tried variations with the URL: ssl://www.servebase.co.uk/hosted/hosted.asp' https://www.servebase.co.uk/hosted/hosted.asp:443 We are running 4.3.2 and our configure command is as such: './configure' '--with-apxs=/usr/local/etc/httpd/bin/apxs' '--with-mysql=/usr/local' '--with-openssl=/usr/local/ssl' '--enable-memory-limit=yes' '--enable-debug=no' '--enable-trans-sid' '--enable-ftp' '--enable-bcmath' '--with-zlib' '--with-jpeg=/usr/local' '--with-ttf=/usr/local' '--with-pdflib' '--enable-shared-pdflib' '--with-xml' '--with-dom=/usr/local' '--enable-gd-native-ttf' '--with-gettext=/usr/local' '--with-curl' '--with-expat-dir=/usr/local' '--disable-cli' I'm using the following version of Net_Socket: // $Id: Socket.php,v 1.4 2003/08/13 09:12:44 kk Exp $ I've searched google and tried everything I can think of. Does anyone know what might be going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Chris
